Identify Preconditions

Some things must exist before anything can proceed.

Typical preconditions:

• Regulatory approval
• Data availability
• Cloud hosting decisions
• Architecture decisions
• Contracts with 3rd parties

You need to capture these things early because they form the “roots” of the map.

• Short alignment session with Architecture, Legal, Data, Security

Frameworks / Tools

• RACI or ownership matrix
• Regulatory checklist
• Platform/vendor decision matrix

Outputs

• Preconditions list (contracts, approvals, data availability, platform decisions)
• Red flags / blockers to resolve early

• Architect
• Product Lead
• Legal/Data/Security (as needed)

How long

• 60–90 minutes
